The maximum profit that a position can generate before being forced to close and take profit. The higher the max gains, the longer the position will be open, but also the more fees will be paid on the open position because the level of max gains defines the amount of capital allocated for the counterside of the position. Max gains are required to ensure that it is impossible for the protocol to become insolvent.
